Rotations and College?

Hey everyone! (If I posted this in the wrong section, feel free to move it.) For those of us who play our sims rotation-style (equal amount of time spent in each household), I was wondering how many neighborhood days do you play to balance college days? If this is confusing, what I mean is if you play one year of college, how many main hood days would you play? I want to see what other people do for this because I want to age my sims in a good manner, and I am not the type to just rush them off to college only to immediately drop them out.

Thanks! :geek:

One college year = Six neighbourhood days

That's how I would have done it had M&G not murdered my RKC.

I do 2 years = 5 days aka 1 season. At least in my more recent Build a City attempts.

I've been doing 1 day=1 semester in my legacy hood, not sure what I'll do when it comes to my BACC

Same here. I did it 1 for 1 at first when I was doing rotations, but I hated my Sims being in college for what seemed like an entire generation in the main hood. :P

I typically do 2 college years = one week rotation. It's not exact, but it's the closest I could come. :)

I play 2 college years = 1 season in my prosperity, and that seems to be working out pretty well.

At what point do you guys usually send your teens to college?

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess I'll have to do some playing around before I move my prosperity hood back into my new game, see what suits me best. Super excited to build my own custom campus, though.

I usually send them 10 days before, so that the sims who don't go to can stay in line age-wise with people their own age (just about).
Super excited to build my own custom campus, though.
That's always pretty fun!

The maxis ones are decent, but the interior design is atrocious, and some of the lots are waaaay too big for my tastes.

I usually send them about the day before their birthday so they can live out their teen years to the max. Unless I get impatient of course haha

Another question for people who have played college rotations before:

If you send a batch of sims off to college at once (let's say 2 sims), do you rotate playing them for each semester (ex, play Sim A's first freshman semester, then Sim B's first freshman semester, then back to Sim A's second freshman semester), or do you play their entire rotation before moving on to the next sim?

I think that's up to you! :) I play the entire rotation before moving on, but I tend to shove as many sims as possible in the same dorm to minimise the number of university households.

I play 1 half semester = 3 neighbourhood days. :)

I send my teens to college when they hit 8 days before adulthood. Then I take note of when they left, and move them back in a week later--so, the day they would have transitioned to adulthood. That way they all stay synchronized with the teens who don't go to college, and with their parents' ages.

I used to do one semester = one neighbourhood day, but that was back when I played rotations of four days. Now, when my BaCC is getting its university, I think I'm going for the two college years = season (so, five neighbourhood days). And then I think I'll send the teens to uni when they have 10 days left, so they'll stay synchronised with the teens that don't go to uni. I'm quite strict on synchronisation, haha. :P

I always send my teens to college a day before their birthday. It just helps me keep everything sorted out in my head. Every semester is a season in the neighborhood (ya'know, about four days or so), and it seems to be working alright so far. College is hard on my organizational skills, so I usually only send Sims off to college on a case-by-case basis.

I've never had the guts to do that, honestly. I really bite at interior design and architecture. Maybe I can mooch off yours if you choose to upload it...

I won't be uploading the subhood itself, but I'll most likely be uploading the buildings I made for it. :)
