To be unlocked on July 1st, 2021!
Event runs from July 1st at midnight to August 1st at midnight, Central US Time.
Each time you post an update for SimNaNo, please come to this thread to report it! The preferred reporting method will be provided below.
This entire event is being held on the honor system! Please report your honest word count/picture count/update count! At the end of the day, I'm going to trust your numbers you give me, so keep that in mind when you post your count here! If it comes to light that you fudge numbers intentionally well... I'll be sad. Please don't make me sad!
I highly recommend you keeping tabs on your own numbers beyond just individual update posts for a host of different reasons, the primary ones being: 1) I'm only human and inclined to make errors; and 2) it's a great self-motivator!

When it's time for you to update your counts, come to this thread and reply to it with:
The Name of Your Story
The link to your update
Your update count/picture count/word count for that particular update
(OPTIONAL) The TOTAL update count/picture count/word count
Here's a template you can use for ease (though it's not required to be used, it's for those who like things simple and ready to go):
Code: Select all
Story Name:
Chapter Link:
Chapter Word Count:
Chapter Picture Count:
Cumulative Word Count:
Cumulative Picture Count:
Cumulative Update Count:
How can I tell my word count?
Wordpress has a function that shows the word count as you write your blog posts there. There's also websites like THIS ONE which can also tell you!
What if my goals are not related to pictures/words/updates/etc? Should I still report them?
I say "yes" because it's really neat to see the numbers get bigger as you update, and who knows it might be worthwhile to see if you hit any of the other goals (such as SimNaNo Plus or Boost). As a side note, it's not required and you can report in only what pertains to your personal goal if that's what suits you.
I'm nervous/anxious/(insert other emotion or reason here) and feel hesitant to share my story updates publicly, what can I do?
We're all writers and we're all learning together! This event is to have fun! However, if you feel this way don't hesitate to PM me! We can work something out for you where you give your update counts to just me as a way of keeping it personal for yourself!
I want to change my goal/change my story/change my links, can I do that?
Absolutely! You can change everything up until 11:59pm (central time) on July 31st! It's no hassle to me, but if you find yourself changing your goal very frequently (2-3 times a day) then we might need to talk. I'm flexible, though, and have absolutely no qualms if any goals need to be changed! All I ask is that you put a NEW POST in the Update Thread or you can PM Livvielove (me), otherwise I won’t know about it.
It's after July 1st, can I still sign up and join?
Absolutely! You can sign up to join as late as 11:59pm on July 31st! Granted, I'd recommend doing so *sooner* so you can actually have time to post an update or two.
I don't post that frequently/I'm trying to do this in one swoop, is that ok?
Absolutely! The amount of times you update doesn't matter at all! If you want to post in one grand swoop and knock out all of your goals, more power to you! Keep in mind though that I can't update your banner unless you post on this thread, though, so your banner won't reflect your progress as accurately as it will others who do post more on a more frequent basis!
I don't post that frequently, could I update with my word count or picture count even if I haven’t posted the update?
Yes you can! I’ve done this in the past so I know it works, but what I will ask of you is that you only post how many words you’ve written (or pictures posted etc) between the last time you’ve updated on this thread and now. For example, say you’re working on an update, you wrote 300 words on Monday. Then Tuesday when you check your word count it’s 520! Your Monday update will be 300 words, your Tuesday update should be 220 words. While this might feel like more work for you, it really spares me with the way my spreadsheet is set up (as I have it set to add each day to form a grand total), so I appreciate your consideration!
Can I wait until all of my updates are finished and post them all at once here?
Sure, if that's what you'd like to do, go for it! See the question above regarding progress banners not being as accurate though!
