Drifting Down the Way:A Drifter Challenge |House 005 27.5.17

Post by TeeVee »

Hello everyone! I've decided to start a new challenge because I wasn't feeling my old legacies anymore. This one is a lot more goal focused and I'm loving it so far. I wasn't planning on documenting it - which is why there is very little for House 001 - but I couldn't not after the events that happened at the very end of the generation.

I really love the idea of putting the rules at the beginning of each chapter! I might have to borrow that idea for mine.

Great job so far!

Spoiler:
Oh no, so sorry you had a house fail! It's so hard sometimes to make the house worth what it needs to be. Mine needs to be worth $350,000, and I'm not sure that's going to happen.

The cowplant essences were hard, but not nearly as hard as herbalism was. Good luck catching those fishies! (commenting after each chapter XD)
Omg. that poor toddler! I hope the social worker doesn't come.
One of the best things I did was to make sure each house had a garden that was ready to harvest, then if the current house got invited over, they could harvest all the high quality goods and plant some and sell the rest. Made a lot of money that way.
Glad to see that the toddlers were happy! Congrats on getting the lot value, and the two skills done!

Spoiler:
Oh my god! What House is that?! I don't think I want to get to that one  Lucky for me, I'm treating each House as it's own challenge within the larger challenge, so if I fail one (or two or three or four) it won't be the end of the world!

I didn't find getting the essences hard so much as getting the dang cowplant itself hard! (and keeping it alive!)
I am clearly the best at toddler rearing haha
I think I'm in the minority of players who don't really have gardens for the sims. I mean, my first house didn't have a garden at all and I started the garden in house 2 waaaaaay too late.

Thanks so much! Now if only I can continue with the good luck :P
New chapter is up. I've played ahead a bit so I have chapters scheduled to go up every night at 11pm GMT for the next couple days so if I forget to link them here when they go live, you can check the blog :)

Spoiler:
House 006. I am not doing the extreme start, so I had $150,000 to start with. You can also "recruit" people to move in with you and force them to help make the money. That's a bonus, but no one makes any freaking money. The only official requirement is that it must have 8 beds (one must be a double) and a bathroom. So, I am actually building this one myself instead of piecing rooms together from the gallery (I hate building).

Some of the alien plants (which I make sure every house has a surplus of), make HUGE money. The orange ball ones can bring in $5,000+
Toddlers can be so hard. I only have had one house with toddlers (5), but even then I don't think toddlers were put in until the end of that house. I don't even remember them that well.
I am a little crazy with the gardens. It's to the point that some of the gardens take all day to care for, this is particularly a bad idea when only one sim is controllable. I have issues with my willpower. I just plant and plant and then wonder why the hell I have a forest.

I'm not sure if you use mods or not, but I just got mine for the garden. I had to have it and I'm not sorry. Gardening I use the yellow version, which makes me pretend to myself that I'm not slightly cheating. That way your uncontrollables can do the garden (I do not use the one that allows them to harvest it though).

House 3: OMG. OMG. That sucks royally! Poor Reggie. I weep for your poor sims. It's so hard when it seems everything just spirals out of control. You were so close too! i make a save at the beginning of every house. We will NOT talk about how many times I had to delete a house and start over. I am crossing my fingers for house 4!

Spoiler:
House 6 sounds rough! I'm pretty much ignoring all my other responsibilities in favour of playing the sims lately so I'm sure I'll find out how horrifying it is soon. I'm trying not to read ahead so that I can't prep the kids in advance for skills and such - not that it's helping much when my main sims die early anyway!

I was planning on starting an alien garden in my current household because I thought it would look cool. I can understand the gardens running away from you. Reggie's garden got a bit like that even though I was trying my hardest to keep it managable.

I don't use mods. I keep thinking I should get one for story progression like I had in Sims 3 but I've never looked into it. I haven't actually got any CC in my Sims 4 game, which is a first for me and a sims game!

I do have a save file for the start of each House (basically the end of the last house) but I'm of the mindset that what happens happens and as long as the heir makes it to YA, I'll continue to play through them all.
