Greetings! I have arrived!

Post by Aunt Loopy »

Hello, fellow Simmers! 'Tis I! Aunt Loopy!

Yes, I use a lot of exclamation points! But I will calm down now, although I truly am very excited to be here.

I've lurked for some time, but now I have The Sims 2 up and running on my computer, and I HOPE it will stay that way. I must confess, I clicked on the wrong thing (I THOUGHT I was downloading, ..., um, honestly, I forget what I was trying to accomplish. Suffice to say, I GET A LOT OF POP-UPS NOW!!!) Anyway, I HOPE my computer can withstand the assault, and keep me here, as a member in good standing.

Also, I HOPE I can complete a challenge, or two.

I've been reading "Romancing the Apocalypse," and have been inspired!'

Oh, wait. I was supposed to calm down. Deep breaths.

ANYWAY, I'm attempting an apocalypse, inspired by "Romancing the Apocalypse," by Lorinsv. Wish me luck!

I actually have a YouTube channel, that I started on another computer, before it died almost two years ago. Sigh. It's still dead. But, I have a laptop. Anyway, my point is that my goal is to do PowerPoint presentations, record myself reading them out loud, and posting them to YouTube. Is that allowed?

If that's not allowed, I'm afraid I'll have to find somewhere else to post my PowerPoint presentations. Any suggestions? I do not have a website, or Pinterest or Instagram. Really, my only "social media" account is on YouTube, which I started on a lark. I posted a few "Let's Play" videos of me playing Stardew Valley. Back on my old computer. That died. Almost two years ago. CAN YOU TELL THAT I AM SALTY?!

Ahem.

So, I'm THRILLED to be online, in some form or other, and would very much like suggestions as to where and how to post. Please be aware, I am disabled (chronic pain. HEYYYYY! Did you know that A WHOLE LOT OF PATIENTS use Stardew Valley and Sims as PAIN MANAGEMENT?! Yeah. It's awesome. You get so engrossed in the game that you forget you even have a body! It's wonderful, as long as you aren't interrupted by phone calls from people trying to sell you MORE MEDICARE insurance and "Plan your funeral NOW!" opportunities, and if it weren't for the fact that I NEED to answer the phone calls from my doctors (I have 7) and my family, I would just unplug my landline. Yes, I have a landline. A landline that does not do texts OR take messages. I am, to put it mildly, technologically impaired.

Where was I? Oh, yeah! I play Stardew Valley and Sims 2. I also am finally in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, after FINALLY GETTING A COMPUTER THAT WILL PLAY IT! Well, BORROWING a computer that will play it. I have to borrow my sister's laptop, when I want to play Baldur's Gate 3. But it is GOOOOOOOD.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting all you lovely people, and making friends.

Oh, yeah. I forgot. So, the reason I am "Aunt Loopy," is because that's what my nephew called me, after I became disabled, and went on pain management. See, either I can't sleep, because of the pain, or I can sleep (sort of. I also have sleep apnea, so that's another issue. I am desperately trying to adjust to a CPAP, so that I can sleep, despite sleep apnea, but so far, I just lie there, breathing anxiously, for hours, until I finally take the thing off, and give in to exhaustion, and sleep for, like, 18 hours at a time, which is annoying, because I am also supposed to be caretaker for my mother, with dementia, and this is too much information. Sorry.) So, sleep deprivation makes me dumb. Or, I am sleeping OK, because I take pain meds, but the pain meds make me do stupid things. They also make me very chatty. I'm just a chatterbox, when my pills have kicked in. Please feel free to ignore my chatter. Anyway, sleep deprivation will make you do dumb stuff. But, hey! PAIN MANAGEMENT. I love the Sims, and the Sims 2 is my all-time favorite. But, anyway, I get "loopy" a lot, and that's why he calls me "Aunt Loopy." I think he thought that "Aunt Slappy" was taken. Ooooh! I love The Animaniacs!

Anyway, so I get to play The Sims 2, again, after a long time. YAAAY! I was without it for a long, long time.

In fact, I bought this new computer SPECIFICALLY because the guy told me it would play The Sims 2 on it! WHEE!

I promise, my stories are edited and not nearly this rambling and chatty.

So, now you know the important stuff about me, for starters. I look forward to learning more about y'all.

Does anyone else use gaming for pain management? I mean, obviously, they do, but I mean HERE? Or is that more of a Stardew Valley thing?

You can post your presentation style in the sims 2 stories, all styles of i will say "blogging" are welcome. I am avid sims 2 player myself and have been playing since the day sims 2 came out. I play sims 2 to get away from life sometimes just immerse myself into playing and forget about other things. I have arthritis in my knees and hips but i don't play to get away from the pain. Never played Stardew Valley. But Welcome to Boolprop and have lots of fun, We are a great community of sims 1-4 players :)

Hello and welcome! I have to say, despite the reason for the nickname, I think Aunt Loopy sounds great :p I hope Sims 2 helps manage the pain, and I'd love to follow your playthrough, in whatever form you decide! I am more of a Sims 3 player myself, though I have been tempted to buy the legacy edition of Sims 2 ever since it got released. I have so many memories of playing that game in high school!

Hello Loopy, and Welcome to Boolprop! :lemonade: :donut: :cookie: :oreo: and :pill: :pill: :pill:

I misread "CPAP" at first, but in a way that would also have made sense, I guess. It's so nice that we can escape the real world and play Sims sometimes! I'm awake for 40+ hours quite often because my internal clock doesn't work properly. But my brain still gets overtired, and that's when I'm most creative.

Thank you, Peachy, Insanitiny and Cororon! I feel warm and welcome here!

Yeah, I have done the multi-day awake thing, MANY MANY TIMES. Sometimes, I dread my bed, because there is nothing to distract from the pain. But, when I reach the point of exhaustion, I'll sleep through anything, so YAAAY! SLEEEEEEP!

I've been up since noon Friday and now it's Sunday morning. I dreamt that I tasted sauce from a vintage sauce bowl and it tasted horrible and rancid. Turned out that it had a double bottom, and it contained decades old sauce from a previous owner, and it leaked through and mixed with the fresh sauce. It tasted so bad that I started spitting, and I woke up with a wet cheek. :fisty:

Do you take Coenzyme Q10? It can help with some pains and chronic fatigue. Good for the heart and muscles as well, taken together with a Selenium supplement.

Hello and welcome to boolprop! I'm a bit late to the game, but happy to have you here. I was a big time sims 2 player myself, although I have basically moved onto 4, I still have some stories I would love to finish on TS2 with the rereleases here. Anyway, I do not play for pain relief, but certainly as an escape of the crazy that has been my life. My father has dementia, and while I'm not the one providing his care, I am trying to take care of his finances, and we have been on a journey of finding a place that can care fo him and the he can be happy in. It's hard. But anyway, super happy you are here and I hope you enjoy your time here on boolprop!

Hello Aunt Loopy and welcome to Boolprop! Good to have you here. ^^ I'm mostly a TS2 player too, although I have dabbled with the later games as well. Can't say that I've used games for pain management. Although I have noticed that if I have shoulder pain (office worker here), it sometimes helps if I can concentrate on something hard, and that something can be a game. I suppose concentrating on something else helps relax the muscles sometimes.

Anyway, welcome again! :cookie: :donut: :pie: :lemonade:

Nope. I tried it, years ago, and it did nothing or me, so I don't take it, now. Thanks for the suggestion, though. BTW, your dream sounds WILD.

Chryose:
Small world! My mother also has dementia, and taking care of her is certainly a challenge. It's like the blind leading the blind, when we go see the doctor. Last time, we were there for a "follow-up," and the tech asked her usual questions, including, "Why are you here today?" We both looked at each other, and shrugged. "Y'all told us to set up this follow-up. You tell us."
Still, it's better with me than without me. At least I can remember the doctor's name and what the specialty is. My mother can't.

Thanks, Katrisim! I feel very welcome.

HAHAHAHAHAH! I DID IT!

I JUST NOW bought a website from GoDaddy! It's "AuntLoopy.com"! Can you BELIEVE I managed to get that domain?

You can email me at "auntloopy@auntloopy.com," and I will try to check that, at least once a week.

YAAAAAAY!

Hi!!! Welcome and good luck with your domain. I use blogger because it is simple and I am old! I just can't seem to get the hang on wordpress. I have been trying to figure it out but my old mind is not handling it. LOL Good luck with all you do here and I look forward to reading your stuff.

Yeah, I need "simple," too. Also old. PLUS, I'm on pain pills that make it even more difficult.

I bought my domain through GoDaddy, and they have all this AI stuff, so I hope I can come up with SOMETHING. Basic is fine. I do not need bells and whistles. I just need a place to post my STUFF.

I used to be the go-to- person at the office for all the technical computer stuff. Then, it just got so far ahead of me. Now, I have trouble resetting a clock.
