I don't think I'll sign up this year, too much going on daily IRL for me to sit and play Sims for hours. I have to stay downstairs in the living room and there's no space for the portable DVD drive to sit to run the disc. I'm going to miss a lot of Sims related things this year.
To all those who can't join in this year, it's understandable. Life has been tough. I'm cutting my goals back a ton from what they were last year even. I hope maybe you can at least read and enjoy some stories, even if you can't play yourself.
It's all in good fun and motivation. Your personal goals are yours to choose, so you can have low goals and specify that life is just too busy to realistically aim for higher.
I missed last year and I'll be gone for the last week and a half of July this year, but I'm hoping to get a little bit of something out. Like everyone else RL has been super busy for me lately (been on overtime hours at work since the middle of December of last year...) So I haven't been simming as much as usual this year. So I'm going to make a POINT of playing for the next month! ...As long as it doesn't get too hot upstairs where my computer is...
But I'm excited! I love the challenge that I picked!
I am SOOOO excited about this coming back around. I have BIG plans this year to finally dust off some of my stories, and CLEAN OUT MY DRAFTS FOLDER that is full of chapters with pictures and no words. Having trouble figuring out how to sign up given the number of stories the cancer of writer's block for a full year (and more for some stories) has affected, but I'll figure it out. I've already got some 5500+ written and ready to take some of the pressure off of trying to go BIG on SimNaNo and still keep my busy Streaming schedule going.
Good luck to everyone, and like others have said, DONT FEEL BAD if you're too busy to participate, or can only do a little bit. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. We need cheerleaders, too! That's part of the fun of this event for me, and why it keeps me coming back every year. I love the support everyone gives! I may have even given the SimNaNo info out to some friends who may or may not be joining in this year, too .. just because I was so excited I couldn't shut up about this, and they got interested, too!
Sucks when I see a house I want to attempt to recreate in Sims that looked interesting and I can't play. No idea what I'd use that house FOR, but still. I do want to do NaNo this year, I don't want to miss a year even if I can't finish I can at least do something. It's my big 15 year anniversary this year for NaNo and I don't want to miss it.
I got all impatient to get a post out nice and early, and ended up writing like half my usual wordcount. But honestly the shorter chapters are kinda working for me, aside from the fact that I'm running out of titles.
I've almost already made it to my picture goal! I was definitely underestimating how many pictures I put in an update. Now I just have to bump up my word count.
Hi helllo everyone! I'm Jayne. I was brought here by IllusoryThrall. I write books but I've been on a hiatus for a few years... even prior to the pandemic. But I am hoping to get my creative writing rekindled in a new way with SimNaNo. I can usually write a ton of words but this is different because there will be pictures to try to illustrate what's going on. I think I am going to end up going in the hardest direction. Writing then posing my people to get the story illustrated. Wish me luck! I intent to get to 20k words this month either with one or more stories. Fingers crossed!
