Awesome! :haha:

If I play with aging on and give the teen life extenders the adult will probably die.

Yes, he or she is there to cause trouble at the start. Mine was wonderful and I missed him. I played with Long lifespan and still had to use 2 youth potions. I'm pretty sure he made was close to his adult birthday when he died.

Ideally you want the caretaker to be alive, so don't assume he can die right off. The point is they're supposed to be someone you have to deal with, so try to keep them alive at all costs. I'm not willing to call the challenge over if they die, however if they die earlier on in the challenge we'd need to address that.

I have a question. I'm doing the challenge in sims 3.

The 13 plants have to be 13 different varieties? I ask because I want a garden of mainly money trees, life fruits and redberry coffee beans.

When I wrote it, I was initially thinking different varieties (otherwise you'd have someone running out grabbing 13 red berry bean seeds and planting all of those, having them grow in 3 days and rake in the cash all at once), however if you're going out of your way to find special seeds, I'd be more than willing to let you do repeats. As money tree seed drops are more random from what I remember. So go for it! I mostly wanted to avoid using the most... "easy" method of planting 13 crops, but there's no penalties for using multiples anywhere in my rules and counting it... and the only failstate is if your teenager dies so... interpret as you will!

Thank you, Livvie.

My doubt came from what you said, the rules did not say it but it seemed to me that the spirit of the challenge suggested something like that.

The first garden that my teen planted has the 13 different types plants (which are now dormant) and and I have a small garden with four special plants inside the house. What I want to do is eliminate the first garden and expand the second. So thank you again. :)

Haha, I totally get you! I like to imagine rules to be flexible. Obviously the spirit of the challenge should always be upheld, but at the end of the day if you break a rule I'm generally not going to penalize/"discount" someone. We all like to play different, and just because some of us have more fun playing with mods and cheats than others doesn't make any challenge done by either any less "viable" a playthrough!
So have fun with it! If you have fun and mostly kept to the spirit of the challenge, then you've certainly won in my book!

Exactly - unless it is a competition, then the rules are there for the challenge, but they should never take away the fun. Once it stops being fun, then I am not going to play - one reason I still can't do the apocalypse "challenge". ;)

Wild question here, because I'm playing the Sims 4 and want to complete some aspirations, is traveling to the sims 4 vacation worlds allowed? IDK if a teen can travel alone but it's good to know.

If they can travel alone, yes for TS4 it should be fine, as I believe you still age while you're there. If the guardian has to come then no.

I'm thinking about attempting this for Sims 2 and I'm not sure how to do the 13 different plants since Seasons only added like 6 or 7 things to plant in a food garden. There are flowers and bushes as well, but I don't know if those count or not.

Then you can do repeats! Just have 13 plants! :)

In fact, I went to edit the rules to specify that and realized it didn't really even SAY 13 different plants. I think it's good if your game OFFERS you the option to do 13 plants, but given TS2 doesn't, just having 13 plants in your garden should suffice!

Another question...apparently teenagers can't write novels in the Sims 2. Any ideas on what could be used as a replacement for that requirement?

Oof that does put a damper on it, doesn't it? Let me think about that... Oh! Doesn't Teen sims have different skills they can learn via books - like fire prevention and what not? I'm a little rusty, but what about having to learn those instead? How many are there? We can say do that and then read the rest in books.

Like "read 13 books" only 5 of them (or however many there are) needs to be those life skills... let me look those up. Ok, looks like there's 6 of them. Could it be feasible then that you read all 6 techniques (Fire Prevention, Couples Counseling, Parenting, Lifelong Happiness, Physiology, etc) and then you have your teenager read 7 more books (to make 13)?

I did it! I played it all before seeing your comment Livvie, so I just didn't take the points for the novels. But I think that could work! There are "novels" you can read from a bookcase (children's, mystery, etc.) so you could easily study the extra skills and then read the novels once each.
