So I used to play TS2 on my desktop, but since I was going to college, I got a laptop, installed all my sims games on it, and moved over my Downloads, saved sims, & neighborhood files.

However my laptop version is really glitchy! It works fine with build and buy mode, the real issue is with CAS and actual gameplay.
A lot of the clothing thumbnails show up like this:

and after I click on them, they usually mess with the screen and make it darker until I click on a piece of non glitched CC. Not wearable at all.
Normally I'd think this is an issue with the CC and meshes and whatnot, but I have the same exact downloads folder on my desktop computer and it all runs fine! It's just on the laptop! And it's not a corrupted hood, since it happens in all the hoods.

And sometimes after the sims shower or something, when their little icons change on the side of the screen, the icons are empty!
Or sometimes the sim itself glitches and the head just becomes this pitch black, bald, faceless head. This is usually fixed by sending them to the mirror.

Anybody know what's going on!?

ETA: Desktop is older (and an XP) but has a better graphics card. Laptop is newer (windows 7) but a worse graphics card. Not sure that it's a graphics card problem though :/

It sounds like the CC might have gotten glitched when you moved it to the laptop. Which is why it works on the desktop but not the laptop. Can you try moving it again and replacing what is on the laptop with a fresh copy from the desktop?

Hmm, that makes sense, but a few days ago I downloaded a top on my laptop. Glitched there, but when I moved it to my desktop game it worked fine :/

It has been awhile since I messed with TS2 CC, but the only thing I remember is the CEP installer thingy. Maybe there is something a little screwy with the framework setup. I hope you figure out and I wish I could remember more. I used to use CC in TS2 constantly, but my memory definitely isn't going back that far.

Have you tried clearing your caches? Sometimes that can fix up corrupted thumbnails and such
The CEP only affects Maxis objects, so it's probably unrelated (though it is very important to have!).

I think it's a graphics issue, I also have windows 7 on my laptop with an integrated card, and I have a lot of issues like that.

@Heather: Hmm, but my laptop runs TS3 just fine...idk, you're probably right! I'm most likely just in denial because this means I won't be able to fix it
What do you do?

If I'm buying the outfit from a home lot with a modded object, I get the outfit regardless of the graphical glitch, and put it on the sim. Sometimes it corrects itself, and when it doesn't I find placing an object next to the sim fixes it. Same goes for hairs.

Wait placing an object next to the sim? Eh?

Yeah, I have the sim change into the outfit, and if the glitch hasn't corrected itself I go into buy mode, and place a random object next to the sim. This, for reasons unknown, fixes the problem for me.

If that doesn't work then I'll try turning down my graphics settings...

The graphical error in the actual icon/shopping menu is random, and I find that goes away the next time I load the menu up. Placing an object is only meant for fixing the error with a sim wearing the clothing. If the problem doesn't go away then I'm guessing you have a different issue.

Hmm I think with mine it might be the same stuff having the problems...including that bow top I asked you about awhile ago

If none of that works I might try uninstalling everything and installing the ultimate collection...not that I have high hopes that that will fix it but

Oh weird, I've never had a problem with the bow top before. It's usually random for me.

I had to mess around with my graphic rules on my laptop to fix several issues, you may have to do the same. A lot of newer cards don't seem to be supported, especially the integrated ones. Things are definitely working better since I tweaked some stuff.
