Hey guys! So I'm a little out of touch with Sims 2 content. I think I used to get the majority of my stuff from TS2 website, but now that's gone so I'm lost! Where are you getting custom content these days? Anything I should avoid? Thank you! :)

Hi there!

Well, all over the place really, the number of fansites and downloads has basically exploded since the Exchange days. You can really drown in cc these days! It also depends on what style of stuff you'd like to have, so different people are going to have different suggestions.

Personally, for the basic stuff I go to Mod the Sims, and another big site worth mentioning is Garden of Shadows, especially their events and themes. My style is mostly Maxis Match, meaning a cartoony style with stuff that looks similar to what comes with the game and the expansion packs. Others have a more realistic or at least semi-realistic style. Many people have their own sims blogs, and a lot of them post content lists with links to sites where they download from. (For example, mine, with links to Maxis Match stuff, is here.) So one thing you can do is browse around different blogs, look at pictures and when you see stuff that you like, see if that person has a list. :)

Oh, and the Fansites section also has a list of sites here on Boolprop. I'm personally less familiar with those, but many of those sites seem to be still alive at least.

As for avoiding stuff, off the top of my head, be a little bit careful in general, and especially when it comes to hack-type downloads. Read the description carefully before putting stuff in your game. There are some things that, say, spawn NPCs in your game and may cause corruption if you remove them from your downloads folder, so it's good to be aware of that.

That's all of what I can think of right now, I'm sure others will have more thoughts. :)

There are a lot of sites that specialise on listing. While not always perfectly up to date, I like to use them to find new creators that could make my game prettier.
