The "Officially"Wacky Boolprop Challenge TS3

Postby Palmer » July 8th, 2014, 6:18 pm

MetalElla took the original TS2 rules and modified them to work with TS3. The ruleset has since been further refined and updated through all expansions.

The Officially Wacky Boolprop Challenge is the official game challenge of Boolprop and it is also officially wacky. Every member that completes and logs this challenge will be rewarded with bonus points within the challenge and an official medal here at Boolprop. Best of luck, if you choose to line up your flamingos and face the music with your smustle face on!

Basic Challenge Layout
This challenge runs for three generations but this count does not include the founders. So, basically, a four generation legacy challenge.

The spirit of this challenge is one of fair, fun, challenging play. In that spirit:

-No cheats such as maxmotives shall be permitted; testingcheatsenabled may only be used to fix bugs or to create pregnancies in same sex couples. Building cheats are allowed.
-No hacks that unfairly affect gameplay to your advantage are permitted. Hacks that are purely cosmetic, fix bugs in the game, or save your fingers from unnecessary clicks are permitted as long as they do not unfairly give you advantage both in the main challenge and any additional mini-challenge you take on.
-You may, of course, use any means necessary to salvage your game, your family and this challenge from any horrible glitches that come your way.

The challenge ends when the child(ren) of the third pregnancy of the third generation reaches adulthood.

Rules
-Each generation, starting with the founders, must have three pregnancies. If your Spouse dies before the third pregnancy you can re-marry or adopt, if you grow too old you must use life fruit or adopt. If you skip out on a pregnancy during a generation it's -10 points for each pregnancy missed.
-Create a single, human, founder.
-Founder must be human when placed into the game but can use any method legitimate in game method to obtain occult status.
-All of the traits should be rolled if they are not already locked in.
-Heir polls are required. Each heir hopeful should have their best facial expression pictured as the challenge is wacky the sims ought be wacky too!
-Graves must be kept on the lot unless you have a slow game and in this case you can move them onto a graveyard.
-You may not hire a maid, gardener, nanny, repairman or fireman for the duration of the challenge. SimBots and Pumbots are allowed as they are not human.
-If a child that resulted from one of the three mandatory pregnancies is taken by a social worker -10 for each child. Any additional children through non-mandatory pregnancy or adoption that are taken results in -3 points, if the child was a Bad Apple (see Mini-Challenges), whether or not from a mandatory pregnancy, only -3 points.
-The Drew Rule, if something breaks it can only be repaired at 12pm-1pm, new stuff that breaks after that time can not be repaired until noon this next day.
-An Army of Flamingos, you must have three flamingos on the lawn for every non-pet member of the household, they can be that sims favorite color or just pink. If someone kicks them over you must straighten them back up every morning (between sun-up and noon) during "Roll Call".
-Obtain at least one occult (ghost, alien, zombie, vampire, witch, fairy, werewolf, plantsim, imaginary friend, mummy, mermaid, unicorn, or genie) through the course of the challenge. You need a forum mascot, don't you? Failure to obtain said mascot results in -30 points.
-The Motive Mobile reward is allowed.
-Your founder may be a sim born in game if you wish.
-You may start on any size lot, with or without a pre-built house, that your Sims can afford either straight out of the SimBin. Just make sure it's a good enough size to stay on for the duration of the challenge for a family that's going to average about five Sims if not more. You cannot start out in an high-rise building.
-Occults: You may only have one occult sim with an expanded life span (mummy, vampire, genie, werewolf, fairy). This sim will probably remain until the end of the challenge so they can complete as many of the mini-challenges as you wish. Also, you may not cure the sim of their occult state. Doing so will result in a loss of -30 points.

Bonuses
All of these bonuses are one time only bonuses unless specified otherwise. You may only choose to do three groups of bonuses. You must complete all three bonuses in order to earn the points for the given expansion pack.

If you only have one expansion pack start the challenge with nine points, if you only have the base game start with eighteen.

The one bonus you can do, regardless:
-For finishing the challenge and posting it to the exchange/your blog/a thread/etc. (3 Points)

Base Game

-Keep Bonehilda in the household for the whole challenge, the founder must buy and unlock her coffin by the time the first child of generation is born. (3 Points)

-Achieve the Seaside Savior lifetime wish (3 Points)

-Visit all three versions of the future: Normal, Utopian, and Dystopian. One heir/ess can visit all three futures, or each heir/ess can visit a single future. (3 Points, 1 Point for each version)
-Master the bot building skill, reach the top of the bot building career, and create a plumbot, increase it's quality to level 10, and give it sentience. (3 Points)
-Be honored with one legacy statute per heir/ess (three out of the possible five) by the end of the challenge. (3 Points, 1 Point for each heir/ess)

Mini-Challenges
You may take on as many or as few of these as you like.

Simself Mania (10 Points)
So you want to marry in Simselves? They have special rules if you do, and special bonuses. You must marry in one each generation, starting with the founder and ending with the second generation heir. Free will must be on at all times. You are allowed to give them a max of eight commands every 24 hours. These commands reset, they do not accrue. Use 'em or lose 'em. Keep a pencil and paper handy and mark it down when you give a command and keep track. During the rest of the time their crazy antics must be endured. These commands do not include canceling a former interaction. You may do so only if you are lining up a new one. If you are not going to line up a new command then you may not cancel the interaction. There are other ways of getting Sims to stop what they are doing, no matter what it is, without controlling them.

BoolProp Naming Scheme (10 Points)
Naming the first generation's three children names that start with B, O and O. The second generation's children would be given names that start with L, P and R. The third generation's children would be given names that start with O, P and N (for .net, of course!). If twins are born they count as one letter, tough bananas! Name them both with the letter the one child would have been assigned and then you must have another child. So if I had my first generation heir have a boy that I named Larry, then a set of twins I would name them Peter and Paula, because they only count for one letter, I would then have to have them try for another baby to get a Rachel. Additional children born/adopted whether intentionally or accidentally are considered outside the naming scheme and can be named whatever you want.

One Bad Apple (10 Points)
Every generation one of your children will just plain be a bad apple. You get to choose which child it is at birth. Once chosen you cannot change it. A bad apple cannot be controlled until adulthood. You can not select your bad apple until they are a teen. You may not view their wants and fears, you may not view their needs, you may not view anything that you cannot already see with all of the interface fully collapsed. As a toddler, child and teen you cannot control them at all. The only way you may have a sibling do their homework for them is if they have, at minimum, a good friend relationship. Once an adult they must live by Simself rules as before stated in the SimSelf Mania mini-challenge, at this point you may also just move them out so they can be controlled by story progression. Having the Bad Apple be taken by a social worker or die before reaching adulthood causes you to lose this mini-challenge. You may purchase lifetime rewards that your Bad Apple has rightfully earned. You can view the LTW as it is in view even if you close the sim panels, you also see their buffs so you may only select your Bad Apple.

Bad Apples on dates? Yes, you may take them on dates and it was finally decided that, yes, you can view their wishes BUT you may only fulfill those that apply to the date (going out to eat, cinema, watching the stars wishes count as do those such as talk/flirt/kiss). And, of course, you can not control them, but you may influence them as always. They want to buy a TV? Too bad! Do not fulfill it until after the date is finished. You must unselect them before clicking End Date. No locking of wishes for the Bad Apple after the date. Period.

The Golden Trio (10 Points)
A generation of your choice must give birth to triplets. You may name each of the babies after a different letter in the naming scheme if you go for this, you are also exempt from the three pregnancy rule that generation. Additional trio rules apply. You must have each triplet learn all three toddler skills (walk, talk, potty) as a toddler, max three skills of your choosing as a child, make three best friends (outside of the family), earn 3,000 Simoleons, and complete the golden trio of getting an A+ in school, getting on honor role for 3 days, and reaching the top of their teen career as a teen. Additional children may be born after the triplets, the trio rules do not apply to them.

Beyond Cheesy (10 Points)
Your Sims may only ever, ever, ever eat grilled cheese. Since it requires level 2 cooking skill and can only be served at lunch I suggest you plan accordingly. Stock up group meals in the fridge. They may drink hot chocolate, and that drink carton from the fridge. etc. But if it's food it has to only be Grilled Cheese, anyone in the household eating anything else makes you lose this mini-challenge. Otherwise, morning, noon and night your Sims will eat, breathe and live the glory and wonder and majesty of grilled cheese. Whether they like it or not.
Vampires are excluded from this as they have the Thirst motive instead of Hunger, so they will still have to have plasma juice/fruit.

BoolProp Clubhouse (10 Points)
You must build a community lot to be the Boolprop Clubhouse and every sim from the three pregnancies every generation must visit this lot 5 times during their lifetime. The lot must have an army of flamingos outside and any llama deco you can find.

Matriarch(10 Points)
You must have your female founder and each of the heiress' get her three pregnancies from someone outside of the family. You may not marry the father (or mother) or move them in. The heir must be female so watermelons are your friend.

Family Scrapbook (10 Points)
Every member of the family must have either their picture taken, portrait painted or sketched with a draft table and hung somewhere about the house. You can choose the age or do multiple ages, take group shots or individual pictures, it's up to you. Your house must contain a picture of everyone that has ever lived in the house by the end of the challenge. Also, each generation, starting with the founder, must write one novel, to keep track of the family's memories. In total four novels must be written one by the founder and one by each of the three heirs (first gen, second gen, third gen).

Gnome Government (10 points)
One upon a time there was a magical underground city filled with gnomes but over time their numbers began to dwindle as humans moved onto the land above and one day construction workers were building a underground level too a building when they collapsed the roof of the city. Only a few gnomes survived this catastrophe. Your sims have read bedtime stories about gnomes and have become fascinated with them they want to collect every gnome in the game and keep them all on their lot and document their characteristics. Pictures or it didn't happen.

Collector (10 Points)
Each generation a sim out of the 3 pregnancies must gather a full collection of one of the following:
  • Gems
  • Metals
  • Rocks
  • Butterflies and/or Fireflies
  • Beetles
  • Nanites
  • Seashells
  • Spirits
You can choose to do only three, one for each of the generations, or have the founder do one and get an extra 5 points because at this time you won’t have the Collector to help.

Imaginary ‘Friends’ (10 Points)
Have every sim that obtains an Imaginary friend marry them!

Living Sim Library (10 points)
Learn all Recipes & Songs for Bass, Piano, Guita,r & Drum. If you can manage this all with one sim without being an occult with an extended lifespan add an extra 10 Points!

Ghostly Ghoulies (10 Points)
You must have 9 ghosts on the lot by the end of the challenge! (or if you have a slow machine in your family cemetery) These sims don't have to be from the bloodline but they must die on the home lot.

Super Mini-Challenges
Again take on as many or as few as you like.

Workaholics Anonymous (15 Points)
Top any 10 career tracks with any combination of household members!

Super Collector (20 Points):
Complete all the collections with one sim! The Traveling collections, Wildlife/Rocks/Gems collections & Photo Collections.

Traveller Extraordinaire (15 Points):
Have one sim have a full visa in all vacation destinations!
Collect 6 full Relic collections!

Monster Mash (15 or 25 Points)
[At Least Two Expansion Packs Required!] The goal here is to create a hybrid sim. Sims 3 makes this a little harder as most occults are designed to be mutually exclusive. This list provides information about which hybrids can occur be design and which ones have been created through glitches.
  • If you obtain a hybrid sim with two lifestates, add 15 points.
  • If you obtain a hybrid sim with three lifestates (and your game doesn't blow up), add 25 points.

Has anyone attempted the golden trio in sims 3? I am questioning maxing three skills as a child. Is it still possible? As they can't actually skill as a toddler and can only get 3 points for a few skills that leaves about 27 points that have to be skilled in 7 days.

If you get them the pegs they can max out logic before teen. If they have the xylophone, I believe they can max out that by teen. I have only been able to get a third (writing) up to level 6 or 7 because of how much time is focused on the other two skills. I am not sure if sticking a toddler in the playpen to skill helps because I cannot remember what it is they learn. I think Charisma and something.

I forgot about the playpen, but i have loaded the house up with incense and set out the relic collections. I also had not realized the kids could use the musical instruments now, thought that was still teen and up. Playpen they learn charisma and to talk I think. I need to look at the store items again.

When did they start to be allowed the instruments? Mine are all teen and up only. I think it is Charisma, Talk and Logic for the playpen. Talk, mirror and abacus.

I read something that said it changed with Generations, but I just tested it and nope, instruments are not usable by children. I do want to check out the athletic skill as children can workout to the radio or TV - but it is probably like cooking where they can only get 3 hidden levels that don't actually open until they are teens. Which means these are the only skills children can actively learn:
  • Fishing (Class + Tabcast)
  • Inventing (Class)
  • Logic (Class + Tabcast)
  • Painting (Class)
  • Photography (Class + Tabcast)
  • Writing (Class + Tabcast)
Not sure about Advanced Technology yet.

Edit: No skill bar when the child works out so that is hidden until a teen.

Also: I am not seeing anywhere that we have to age up naturally? Or am I just missing it (like I missed the restriction on passive mood boosters and am promptly removing all of my incense burners - which I was testing to see if it would help the golden trio) O.o

I do not see anything in regards to aging at all except for the only one occult allowed due to lengthened age.

I also do not see anything about the mood boosts.

The mood boosts are in the TS2 version. Apparently I dropped them out when transferring and updating the TS3 version.

I need to add them back in, I think. Since it was part of the TS2 version and they provide the same benefit.

I am torn between adding them back and not. On the previous forums, they are missing from that ruleset also, so I didn't accidentally take them out. Opinion?

I think I'm being really silly here, but when it lists all the bonuses and says we can only do 3, does it mean we only do 3 of the bonuses (like a base game one, one from supernatural and one from seasons for example) to earm 9 points, or do we choose 3 games to do bonuses for (so all three for the base game, all 3 for supernatural and all 3 for seasons)? I feel I'm being super stupid about this, but I wanna check before I start!

Great thankyou! :) Better start saving up for a Bonehilda then!

Am I right in thinking, if we mess up one of the 3 bonuses for a game we loose out on all the points? So say I can't get one of my heirs abducted for the Seasons bonus I loose all 9 points from that bonus?

Yes to get the bonus you have to complete the set. But at the same time the points are spread between each task so I would keep track of what you do conplete.
Hmm I am going to look at that later today.

I updated the rules for clarification

All of these bonuses are one time only bonuses unless specified otherwise. You may only choose to do three groups of bonuses. You must complete all three bonuses in order to earn the points for the given expansion pack.

I just noticed that you cannot use the Drew Rule for Supernatural.

The requirement for having Bonehilda means she fixes everything when it breaks.

Eta: Also - Boney was broken almost a year ago. She cannot interact with them at all and wakes them up or blocks the crib route failing to pick them up. I got a social worker notification twice in one day because Ocean could not get to him. Can you offer an alternative requirement, please?

ETA2: Kids are gone. Social worker finally came because they could not get to the toddler. On the Late night requirement, what determines a successful date? I have never actually gone on a date in sims 3 since it doesn't really do anything, not like sims 2.

oh no:(

ok, Let me look at the expansion and see what we can replace Boney with. Do you have any suggestions since you are playing currently?

Late night, after the date there will be a popup in the notifications that says either dont call me, or that was awesome lets do it again, or somewhere in the middle. I would say successful would be a positive comment. (not sure if the popup happens if both are a member of the household)

I have no clue. I have been combing through Carl's and I am thinking maybe maxing alchemy and all the skills? Not sure how long that would take or if all heiresses need to do it though. Maybe just throw 50 elixirs before each one dies?

I am going to revert to a previous save. I knew Boney was broken, but I had not played since before the very last patch. I was hoping she was fixed, but everywhere I go they said she was never even looked at by EA. I believe she was broken before patch 1.40.

The Alchemy sounds good. And Boney has always had issues. I haven't played with her except for once.

How does this sound?
Each heir must master Alchemy and complete all of the skill challenges.
