TS2 Expansions Legacy?

Post by DionysusDreams »

I'm not sure if this exists but what I'm looking for is a modified version of the legacy challenge where each generation your goal is to experience as much expansion pack content as you can. For example, gen 1 would be base game, gen 2 would be uni, gen 3 would be nightlife etc. Has this been done before?

I haven't, though I've seen people toy with the idea of playing a Legacy starting with the base game and installing an EP for each new generation, however I don't remember seeing anything long-term coming out of that. I think your idea sounds great!

I have seen been done, I don't remember who wrote it. I liked the idea a lot. It would be cool to see it done again.

This requires someone with both disks and determination. For example, I have my game as a collection, not the individual disks, so unless I can actually remember what commands, let alone objects, came with each expansion and stuff pack, I could not do it.

However, I sure would love to read such a legacy!

In that case, I'm going to try and whip something up. The idea mostly came to me after I saw holosprite's list of TS4 accomplishments and how after all these years of playing TS2 I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of all there is to actually in the game. I thought that going through a legacy and trying to do as much as possible that came with every expansion per generation would be fun to do and help me cross a bunch of things off my list (which I still have to make, unless someone knows of a TS2 accomplishments list that already exists?)

Also, Michelle - I personally wouldn't limit objects or interactions per generation, I think that's just a little bit far. Whilst I do have all the discs as well as the ultimate collection, I already have my games installed and set up and I really couldn't be bothered messing with that just for the sake of this challenge.

Interesting idea! Someone on tumblr has a TS3 version going on of this and I was always wondering if a TS2 version existed. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :D

My bad, Lorinsv, I'll take that one out. Good idea on the fitness levels, I'll get them added.

Alien abduction's already on the list, Pony.

You have teen getting caught sneaking out, but not asking for permission to go out.

Also, don't forget having a teen run away - twice, actually. One teen to be returned by the police, and one teen to stay away until aging up to adult.

WOW! That's quite a list. Seems to me you'll need more than a single legacy family to do it all. You'll need a clan!

So, even without limiting the actions and objects (very far, if you're doing it voluntarily, yep!), this list is enough of a challenge. WOW! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Great suggestions, Lorinsv and Michelle, thanks so much!

This list is separate from the actual challenge. I just wanted to make the lists first so I can easily see what can be done per game and then I'll make the challenge around the lists. I think it would be quite impossible to do everything in the base game list in one generation!

Another way to do it is to get the Any Game Starter - most of the folks I know who've done the one EP per generation use that. It allows you to ONLY load the game you want to load, instead of only the last EP. Might be worth checking out, then you don't have to bother with reinstalling or otherwise ignoring other EP functions. I want to say it's on either ModTheSims or MATY, but I"m currently drawing a blank - but I do believe it's by Numenor, of CEP and other genius items. Or perhaps I'm dreaming things...kind of brain dead right now!
Call me Jenn/Rai, I answer to both!

I actually did my Legacy this way- but it was posted on the BBS and is no more. It was called- Just a Legacy... I should have kept it. Like my Barbie Apocalypse but oh, well.

I started one last year but with the UC installed, it'll probably not be finished.

Now that I read the list... I never tried to do it ALL! O.O

... To be honest, if I tried to do it all I'd probably resort to having the gen 1 spares set up their own "secondary legacies," and running their families that way.

Especially once you get up to, say, Seasons, Bon Voyage, and Open for Business, and you'd need a sim to, say, collect all vacation mementoes, obtain gold in all badges, have five level 10 businesses, etc. :)
