Would you take a Quiz for fun?

Post by modelmgt »

I am playing with the idea of posting short quizzes(one per chapter) where the reader would find the answers within a given legacy chapter.
How do Boolpropers feel about quizzes for fun and would they be excited about this kind of interactive activity?
Give me some feedback in the poll!

While I like little fun quizzes, I don't see why a legacy should have one.
Playing a legacy is more about sharing/telling a story, and a quiz is not the right medium for it. Quizzes are more about finding out about what you know or what you like/are etc. Which can be fun, nothing wrong with that, but doesn't contribute much to your story that you want to tell.
If you want your legacy to be interactive, it would be more about polls and stuff, I guess.

Yea, I agree with mandarine. A quiz that tests how well someone read a legacy isn't something that I would associate with a legacy.

Now polls could be interesting. It will help you gauge as a writer who the readers are connecting the most with or what plots are their favorite.

You could even use it when you're stuck on what would a character do. Ask your readers what they think the character would do.

I support Mandarine and Seera. Polls could be fun, quiz, not so much.

I agree, but I also think the idea of some form of interactive legacy would be really rather fun. Maybe not a quiz, but maybe the community could be involved somehow or other. Naming the kids, or deciding how many kids they have, or making it a "choose your own adventure" style story with people polling in with suggestions for what happens next in your legacy/plot, I don't know.

The choose your own adventure could be fun. I wonder if you could hide the results of the poll so that people don't know which won until you write it in.

I was thinking more along the lines of a pub quiz, which is fun, especially when I'm on my pain pills. :drinks: So, not so much questions about the storyline, per se, but more pub quiz type questions of Sim lore.

Mind you, I've never actually participated in a pub quiz, but I've seen them on British TV shows, and always find them fun to watch.

Thanks everyone for your responses so far!
The idea ( in my head anyway) isn't really to "test" anyone's comprehension or memory of what went on or whatnot, nor would i be grading anything; like I said it's meant to be fun so it'd be more just randomly picking stuff to quiz about, anything from what's your favorite quote to who's had the best makeover so far, and no more than 5 questions.
Maybe at some point I could get everyone's feedback on what old-timey black -&-white reel type of intro to do next! But I already have a notion of the overall theme of the VERY next reel so there's no need to vote there. :-)
At this point I'm basically just "putting out feelers" to see whether such a thing would even be worth doing, so this thread will be helpful in that regard, at least.
