Rex Plays "The Apocalypse" - Finished June 22nd 2015

Post by Rex »

So I started this a week ago and just got around to putting everything I have so far together. Unlike my legacy, this will take a bit longer because I don't have all day everyday to myself (hooray for adult jobs). Maybe an update every week or two? It's a question because I don't know how the future will play out.

This is my second apocalypse that I'm playing within the current install. The last one I failed because I accidentally cheated before medical was unlocked (litter box). I've done this before and am using the same print-out of the rules I had six years ago (environmentally friendly simming). There's not much else to say, so go ahead and start reading:

(1) The Whitehalls
(2) Gloria & Simon
(3) Melody & Natalia
(4) Melody & co.
(5) Judith and Siblings
(6) The End
Spoiler:
Generation One:
• Ben Whitehall - Hopelessness and Culinary
• Kaylynn Spitzig - Medical

Generation Two:
• Gloria Whitehall - Education
• Simon Whitehall - Criminal
• Thomas Taylor - Athletic
• Rover - Pet Show Business

Generation Three:
• Melody Whitehall - Law
• Natalia Whitehall - Science
• Octavio Whitehall - Music
• Sheldon Chen - Paranormal
• Alegra - Pet Service

Generation Four:
• Christine Whitehall - Military
• Kylie Whitehall - Politics
• Queenie Whitehall - Architecture
• Victory Whitehall - Gamer
• Marcel Pai - Natural Science
• Pepper - Pet Security

Generation Five:
• Judith Whitehall - Adventure
• Justin Whitehall - Slacker and Alien Technology
• Jonah Whitehall - Law Enforcement
• James Whitehall - Intelligence
• Christy Stratton - Journalism

Generation Six:
• Lillian Whitehall - Show Business
• Corey Whitehall - Business
• Sasha Whitehall - Oceanography
• Hailey Whitehall - Entertainment
• Willow Whitehall - Dance
• Gwen Whitehall - Artist

You know you can put fences around the stairs in the house so no random wolves can come in a wreck stuff.
Spoiler:
It's so hard to find good yes men in an Apocalypse huh? I would like to finish mine this year but not sure about it. Damn plot flies...half the year is gone already hard to believe. Also kinda glad I never had to have anyone quit their job in mine, advantages of having a vampire second gen spare around for four generations. *cough* Anywho, nice chappie. I did read the first one, just forgot to comment. It was 2 am so...

Spoiler:
I hope you had Gloria quit and not retire...Slacker says no retirements. But hey, you're just powering through so it's all good. *looks at desktop* Yeah...Apocalypse is on there. Anyway, nice updates.

Hi :D

I saw a few broken rules but you keep going, finish, and have fun! The rules can be confusing and even after years, easy to break without remembering. Good luck! :D

@Ani-Mei: yeah, she quit. I don't know why I wrote retired. They all quit their jobs by elderhood at the very latest.

@Becca: Haha, crap. Oh well, I'm too far in to start over.

@Mauricette: Do another one. Do it, do it, do it!

Never again!
But probably again. Someday far in the future. But very far. When I've forgotten how grinding it is. :B

Don't worry about restarting- just keep going. There are always oops moments, just have fun with it and finish- my motto in some of these challenges. :D

Woo good job!
Spoiler:
I noticed one rule break that I thought I should mention for your future apocalypses. All sims need to stay in the main house until the career is lifted for it to 'count', so to speak.

But you did it! Good job!

Just read all of your drive-by Apocalypse today and was quite entertained! Nice job, with the exception of a few hiccups. You actually make me want to get back to my undocumented Borg AC again (Artist, Business, Intelligence, Military and Science lifted so far).
Spoiler:
Pre-Politics lift, I would have either put the graves in someone's inventory or up on the roof with the career rewards. I believe the ghosts would have been trapped up there without any stairs.

Yeah, lifting restrictions outside of the main house was, er... unique to say the least... whoops! :splat:

How do townies with Uni careers work - just luck of the draw? I've heard of their existence, but have never come across it in my game, and you got two!
Huge congrats on finishing and again, great job on both the challenge and documenting! *thumbs way up*

Spoiler:
I think with Apartment Life some of the clique townies get university careers. I read over the core rules yesterday and apparently I was supposed to switch them to something else. Whoops

As for the moving sims out of the main house, it is allowed after Military is lifted. I know that years ago, and even in recent apocalypses, people have done that and it hasn't been a problem.
Thanks for reading :)

Spoiler:
Yes, they can move out of the main house after they lift their restrictions, but they can't lift restrictions from anywhere but the main house. I admit I was scan-reading, so perhaps I missed something? It looked to me like they were lifting restrictions from a different house.

Spoiler:
I did lift those restrictions outside of the main house via the spares born there. The ruleset doesn't say anything about that being a problem. Once military is lifted, sims can move out. None of the individual restrictions or the core rules or the clarifications questions at the end say anything about lifting restrictions via a spare outside of the main house being against the rules. I have read them over five times trying to find where it states that restrictions must be lifted in the main household and have come up with nothing. If you can point me to the heading and bullet point where this is, that would be awesome thanks
