A Broke Apocalypse ~Completed!~ =D

Post by Rflong7 »

Hi

Dustin Broke made it to University. He didn't earn any scholarships, he didn't move in with any friends, and his mother didn't try to stop him. He didn't even tell Angela he was going. He decided it was time when he was given the chance.
He has no extra money and he was assigned to a cheap dorm room. But he decided he was going to make something of his life, something more than a tiny trailer with a pool with no ladder.
I chose Dustin Broke because he's a fun original Sim.

I'm following the full Borg Rules. *fingers crossed*

You make this look so easy!
Spoiler:
I didn't know you could do the move-to-uni-move back thing! Hooray for exploiting the loopholes :)

I've never seen the pop-up about being so pregnant you can't go to work before! Thank goodness Chelsea made it.

I'm excited for you, with all of these lifts! How many do you have left to go?

How long did it take you to play all of this? :)

Hi, Sam

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! :donut:
Spoiler:
I checked and never saw where they couldn't drop out of uni... I hope I didn't miss it. :dizzy:

OMGoodess- yes. If work hours are during the time they should deliver, they won't go to work. I messed up once with that. :(

I had 5 in what turned out to be 2 chapters, and now it's done. Yay!

I don't know. It's been a few weeks, maybe a month. I didn't want to post it until I was done writing. writing is hard for me.

Wow! That was so fast! It was a fun read, just watching you zip along through them all. I don't know how you do the thing with the papers, to save a good job prospect for later, but I liked your strategy of timing the trips to college based on job availability on the computer. Gotta remember that one.

I look forward to seeing your next one, too! It will probably take 2 or 3 weeks longer.

Don't forget to report your post, so you can get the medal for completing your apocalypse!

Now I need to get back to playing mine.

Hi, MichelleCYoung

Thanks!
I like teens when they can do other things but not in an apocalypse- they waste space. :)

Let's see- I've been rotating papers for years.

Usually it's when he has two or three papers. Keeping up to three papers in their inventories I can have more to rotate for that one job to show 1st. The game will deliver a new paper even if the papers are in an inventory. Which can give new jobs... but sometimes not. If you want to keep a job- save 3 papers on the roof or in the basement.
Spoiler:
Leaving 3 paper on the lot (not in an inventory) will cause the game not to deliver a paper- so it's safe. Leaving even 1 paper out and 2/3 in the inventory will still mean no paper delivery. Once a paper is delivered all papers will show the jobs for that day.

If I got the job then I throw away the old papers to hopefully make new jobs show in the next delivery.

But, if I only have one paper and it has a job I really want to save... well, I place it on an end table, put the end table in an inventory, go live- open the inventory and remove the newly generated paper off the end table and put the end table back without unpausing- then do it again until I have 3 papers with the job I really want/need. I count it as two items in their limit of 3.

But always delete them when they're no good to freshen up the jobs rotation.

Mostly I like to get jobs from the computer so I open that as fast as I can- most times it will have a good job listed each day. Plus, once Science/Gamer are lifted they can check the job listings for that day right after midnight... Which can be saved in a paper for a backup. I did that since the last one showed up before he grew to a teen. :)

Hope that made sense.
Good luck! I need to catch up on some Sims 2 reading now. :bounce:

Thanks! I'm definitely going to use the three-on-the-lot trick to save the jobs I want, because it irks me when I have fifteen papers spread over five sims' inventories, and I only have two or three jobs coming up. With a college grad in the house, it frequently happens that a sim (without a diploma) will look at the paper, and then just put it right down, because ALL the jobs are for college grads.

Time to start checking the papers for future jobs, and start a paper stockpile, then.

Thanks, again! I love reading other people's apocalypses, and finding out strategies like this.

*sigh* Damn plot flies...I would have been finished ages ago by now without it. I am still shooting for my tenth medal. I did read through it, nice to use a premade in Pleasantview which is where I would have stayed if I could. Nice going by the way.

Hi

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

I know how long it takes when there's only a few jobs left and having to wait and hope. :)

I have lots of respect for people who can write with a plot. It really does take more time and effort plus it's enjoyable to read for the twists- I just know I can't write a plot- ever. XD
