The "Officially"Wacky Boolprop Challenge TS4

Post by Palmer »

MetalElla took the original TS2 rules and modified them for TS3. The ruleset was refined for TS4 with the help of simfulicious, and is now being updated for the 2019 packs by Heather.

The Challenge
The Officially Wacky Boolprop Challenge is the official game challenge of Boolprop and it is also officially wacky. Every member that completes and logs this challenge will be rewarded with bonus points within the challenge and an official medal here at Boolprop. Best of luck, if you choose to line up your flamingos and face the music with your smustle face on!

Basic Challenge Layout
This challenge runs for three generations but this count does not include the founders. So, basically, a four generation legacy challenge.

The spirit of this challenge is one of fair, fun, challenging play. In that spirit:
- No cheats or mods that provide an unfair advantage will be allowed. Mods that are purely cosmetic, fix bugs in the game, or save your fingers from unnecessary clicks are permitted as long as they do not unfairly give you advantage both in the main challenge and any additional mini-challenge you take on.
- Master Command is ok as long as you do not skew the settings to allow for more than 8 people in your family, or change any setting to manipulate the rules. It should be used as a population controller for the rest of the world.
- You may, of course, use any means necessary to salvage your game, your family and this challenge from any horrible glitches that come your way.
- The challenge ends when the child(ren) of the third pregnancy of the third generation reaches (young) adulthood.

Rules
- Create a single founder.
- Use the randomize button to choose your founder's traits.
- You may use whatever lot traits you want, as long as it doesn’t violate any other rule.
- You may start on any size lot, with or without a pre-built house, that your Sims can afford either straight out of CAS or Gallery. Just make sure it's a good enough size to stay on for the duration of the challenge for a family that's going to average about five Sims if not more, as you cannot move away from this lot.
- Your founder may go to university prior to starting this challenge if you wish.
- Each generation, starting with the founders, must have three pregnancies. If your Spouse dies before the third pregnancy you can re-marry or adopt, if you grow too old you must use potion of youth/ambrosia/Essence of Life or adopt. If you skip out on a pregnancy during a generation it's -10 points for each pregnancy missed.
- Heir polls are required. Each heir hopeful should have their best facial expression pictured as the challenge is wacky so the sims ought be wacky too!
- Graves must be kept on the lot.
- You may not hire any service sims (maid/butler/nanny) for the duration of the challenge.  Infants/toddlers can be sent to daycare so the parents can do to work, but the nanny should not be hired to come to the house)
- If a child that resulted from one of the three mandatory pregnancies is taken by a social worker -10 for each child taken. Any additional children resulting through non-mandatory pregnancy or adoption that are taken results in -3 points. If the child was a Bad Apple (see Mini-Challenges), whether or not from a mandatory pregnancy, only -3 points.
- The Drew Rule, if something breaks it can only be repaired at 12pm-1pm, new stuff that breaks after that time cannot be repaired until noon this next day. You may NOT have Gnomes as a lot trait.
- An Army of Flamingos, you must have three flamingos on the lawn for every member of the household. If someone kicks them over you must straighten them back up every morning (between sun-up and noon) during "Roll Call".
- Obtain at least one playable occult sim (either an alien, ghost, vampire, mermaid, spellcaster, or servo) through the course of the challenge. You need a forum mascot, don't you? Failure to obtain said mascot results in -30 points.
- Lifespan should be played on Normal - This has been tested on long and it makes the challenge too easy. ;)
- You can use any of club perks, except for Networked or Rally the Troops...this perk makes EVERYTHING easy, cause your needs bars fill back up.

Bonuses
All of these bonuses are one time only bonuses unless specified otherwise. You may only choose to do up to three groups of bonuses. You must complete all three bonuses for each expansion in order to earn the points for the given expansion pack.
--Several of the bonuses require each generation to participate - these start with the kids of the founder (the first generation) unless it states otherwise. If you choose to have the founder complete the bonus, add an additional 3 points.

If you only have one expansion pack start the challenge with nine points, if you only have the base game start with eighteen.

Base Game (9 points total)
- For making a founder with a colourful skin tone and keeping the skin colour in the family until third generation. (3 Points)
- Achieving the initial (first teen/adult) aspiration for the founder, heirs, and all spares. You can keep the spares in the household until their aspiration is complete. (3 Points)
- For having a gnome to guard your flamingos. He must be accessible to be kicked. Watch for it and don't lose that gnome! (3 Points)

City Living (9 points total) -all of these begin with the first generation-
- Have at least one sim per generation attend AND participate in each festival at least once. They must engage in the activities offered and be there for the most of the festival. (3 Points)

Island Living (9 points total)
- Have your founder choose a lot in Mua Pel'am, restore the island, and keep it clean for the remainder of the challenge. (3 points)
- Your founder needs to compete the beach life aspiration. Your subsequent heirs should complete at least one nature aspiration each. (3 points)
Mini-Challenges
You may take on as many or as few of these as you like.

BoolProp Naming Scheme (10 Points)
Naming the first generation's three children names that start with B, O and O. The second generation's children would be given names that start with L, P and R. The third generation's children would be given names that start with O, P and N (for .net, of course!). If twins are born they count as one letter, tough bananas! Name them both with the letter the one child would have been assigned and then you must have another child. So if I had my first generation heir have a boy that I named Larry, then a set of twins I would name them Peter and Paula, because they only count for one letter, I would then have to have them try for another baby to get a Rachel. Additional children born/adopted whether intentionally or accidentally are considered outside the naming scheme and can be named whatever you want.

One Bad Apple (10 Points)
Every generation one of your children will just plain be a bad apple. You get to choose which child it is at birth. Once chosen you cannot change it. A bad apple cannot be controlled until they become a young adult. You can not select your bad apple until they are a teen. You may not view their needs or skills, you may not view anything that you cannot already see with all of the interface fully collapsed. As a child and teen you cannot control them at all. At this point you may also just move them out so they can be controlled by story progression. Having the Bad Apple be taken by a social worker or die before reaching young adult causes you to lose this mini-challenge. You may purchase aspiration rewards that your Bad Apple has rightfully earned. Bonus bonus points if your bad apple earns negative character traits!

The Golden Trio (10 Points)
A generation of your choice must give birth to triplets. You may name each of the babies after a different letter in the naming scheme if you go for this, you are also exempt from the three pregnancy rule that generation. Additional trio rules apply. You must have each triplet max three skills of your choosing as a child, make one best friend and two good friends (outside of the family), and complete the golden trio of getting an A in elementary and high school and reaching the top of their teen career as a teen. They must also each earn at least three positive character value if you have Parenthood installed. Trio = three. And no negative values. Additional children may be born after the triplets, the trio rules do not apply to them. *clarification - the friends and the character traits need to be completed by the end of the teen years, the other requirements need to be completed within the age specified.

Beyond Cheesy (10 Points)
Your Sims may only ever, ever, ever eat grilled cheese. They may drink any liquid they want, but if it's food it has to only be Grilled Cheese! Anyone in the household eating anything else makes you lose this mini-challenge. Otherwise, morning, noon and night your Sims will eat, breathe and live the glory and wonder and majesty of grilled cheese. Whether they like it or not. Bonus bonus points if they achieve the hidden Grilled Cheese aspiration!

BoolProp Clubhouse (10 Points)
You must build a community lot to be the Boolprop Clubhouse and every sim from the three pregnancies every generation must visit this lot 5 times during their lifetime. The lot must have an army of flamingos outside and any llama deco you can find.

Matriarch (10 Points)
You must have your female founder and each of the heiress' get her three pregnancies from someone outside of the family. You may not marry the father (or mother) or move them in. The heir must be female so strawberries are your friend.

Family Scrapbook (10 Points)
Every member of the family must have either their picture taken, portrait painted (paint from reference) and hung somewhere about the house. You can choose the age or do multiple ages, take group shots or individual pictures, it's up to you. Your house must contain a picture of everyone that has ever lived in the house by the end of the challenge. Also, each generation, starting with the founder, must write one (non-fiction) novel, to keep track of the family's memories. In total four novels must be written: one by the founder and one by each of the three heirs (first gen, second gen, third gen).

On Ley, Not the Lonely (10 Points)
At the beginning of the challenge you must enable the On Ley Line lot trait, and leave it on for the entire challenge. You must woohoo and give birth on your home lot for the entirety of the challenge. Multiple children will only count as one pregnancy and each generation must still have three pregnancies. Each pregnancy will count as one letter if you are doing the Boolprop Naming Theme mini-challenge. Each child born during the challenge will also need to have at least one character trait (positive or negative) upon finishing their teen years.

Collector (10 Points)
Each generation one sim out of the 3 pregnancies must gather a full collection of anything in the collection tab that has at least 15 items in it. You can choose to do only three, one for each of the generations, or have the founder do one and get an extra 5 points.
SUPER Mini-Challenges
Again take on as many or as few as you like.

Off the Grid (15 points)
At the beginning of the challenge you must assign the off the grid lot trait, and leave it on for the entire challenge!

Workaholics Anonymous (15 Points)
Top any 10 career tracks with any combination of household members!

Aspirational Family (20 Points)
Complete all basegame aspirations at least once!

Super Collector (20 Points)
Complete all the collections with one sim!

Tricks of the Trade (20 Points)
Max all basegame skills at least once, with any combination of household members!

The one bonus you can do, regardless:
-For finishing the challenge and posting it to the exchange/your blog/a thread/etc. (3 Points)

That was quick! I'll go revise my current challenge! Question, can I change my founders skin in CAS to a colourful one (for the base game bonus) as I made her before these modified rules were revealed? :begging: *Slides a :cookie: across internet* But now I can do more challenges! :woot:

Absolutely!

Let me know if you run into any problems with the rules, as you are the first one testing them on TS4. :)

Just as a little note, I had some serious trouble finding a way I could randomize traits real easy.
But the Prosperity Challenge roll list did the trick! :whome:

Quick question! :plumbob2:
When you say "initial aspiration for spares, and heir/esses" you don't mean child aspirations, right? Because those are sooo hard. :cover:

Right, this is based on the first "adult" aspiration.

Hi! I just stumbled across these and I found a few issues where the rules don't seem to have been adequately modified/amended for the new game. I hope you don't mind if I point some of them out to you, so that the necessary corrections/amendments can be made?
Palmer wrote: -Your founder may be a sim born in game if you wish.
If it's a sim born in-game and saved to the library, they keep all their skills and, I do believe, their progress on their aspirations if you've been playing them in another file. Is there a way of getting a 'clean' version of the sim that I don't know about?
One Bad Apple (10 Points)
Every generation one of your children will just plain be a bad apple. You get to choose which child it is at birth. Once chosen you cannot change it. A bad apple cannot be controlled until adulthood. You can not select your bad apple until they are a teen. You may not view their wants and fears, you may not view their needs, you may not view anything that you cannot already see with all of the interface fully collapsed. As a child and teen you cannot control them at all. The only way you may have a sibling do their homework for them is if they have, at minimum, a good friend relationship. Once an adult they must live by Simself rules as before stated in the SimSelf Mania mini-challenge, at this point you may also just move them out so they can be controlled by story progression. Having the Bad Apple be taken by a social worker or die before reaching adulthood causes you to lose this mini-challenge. You may purchase lifetime rewards that your Bad Apple has rightfully earned. You can view the LTW as it is in view even if you close the sim panels, you also see their buffs so you may only select your Bad Apple.

Bad Apples on dates? Yes, you may take them on dates and it was finally decided that, yes, you can view their wishes BUT you may only fulfill those that apply to the date (going out to eat, cinema, watching the stars wishes count as do those such as talk/flirt/kiss). And, of course, you can not control them, but you may influence them as always. They want to buy a TV? Too bad! Do not fulfill it until after the date is finished. You must unselect them before clicking End Date. No locking of wishes for the Bad Apple after the date. Period.
In TS4, a successful date has nothing to do with completing whims - it follows the social event idea where you're given mini-goals. I don't think they roll date-specific whims. If we were to send a bad apple on a date, the dated sim would either have to be selectable, or we would have to be able to control the bad apple to complete the requirements. I kinda feel like dating then shouldn't be allowed unless the dated sim is selectable so she/he can do all the work.
Beyond Cheesy (10 Points)
Your Sims may only ever, ever, ever eat grilled cheese. Since it requires level 2 cooking skill and can only be served at lunch I suggest you plan accordingly. Stock up group meals in the fridge. They may drink hot chocolate, and that drink carton from the fridge. etc. But if it's food it has to only be Grilled Cheese, anyone in the household eating anything else makes you lose this mini-challenge. Otherwise, morning, noon and night your Sims will eat, breathe and live the glory and wonder and majesty of grilled cheese. Whether they like it or not.
This reads like it was written for TS2 (I've not seen a drink carton in the fridge, or a hot chocolate machine. Also, with the "cook" command from the fridge, any meal can be prepared at any time. Relevant clarifications for TS4 might be: Can they drink coffee and tea and drinks from the bar? What about birthday (or wedding) cake? Can you use/eat birthday cake? It's usually a requirement in the birthday or wedding social events to "eat cake" (also, I think the dinner party sometimes throws a "make/eat dessert" goal, too). Furthermore, this restriction would make it very difficult to complete the master chef aspiration or top the chef career as they need the gourmet cooking skill. I realize it could be done with a player hot on the cancel action button and some skill books, but it still wouldn't be easy.
Matriarch(10 Points)
You must have your female founder and each of the heiress' get her three pregnancies from someone outside of the family. You may not marry the father (or mother) or move them in. The heir must be female so watermelons are your friend.

The line about watermelons can be removed - there is no way to manipulate the gender of the child in TS4 without cheats.
Family Scrapbook (10 Points)
Every member of the family must have either their picture taken, portrait painted or sketched with a draft table and hung somewhere about the house. You can choose the age or do multiple ages, take group shots or individual pictures, it's up to you. Your house must contain a picture of everyone that has ever lived in the house by the end of the challenge. Also, each generation, starting with the founder, must write one novel, to keep track of the family's memories. In total four novels must be written one by the founder and one by each of the three heirs (first gen, second gen, third gen).
None of these things can be done in TS4 - the novel, yes, but you can't take keep-able photos or paint portraits, and there is no drafting table. Perhaps simply a generic painting "named" after each sim in the household?

Additionally, once a sim has completed the first aspiration they rolled, can they complete a second/third/fourth one? Does that aspiration have to be rolled as well, or can it be chosen?

Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh - I just found a few issues that sort of annoyed me or needed clarification, as these rules honestly feel like they were copypasta'd from the other threads for the other games. This seems like a pretty fun challenge otherwise, and I'd like to give it a shot some time. It would probably force me to be less serious and more fun in playing with my sims.

I am also intrigued by the answers to these questions.

Also, will additional bonuses be added for Outdoor Retreat or Get to Work?

Sorry I haven't had a chance to look at this in depth yet. Obviously the rules were created without any testing, so I encourage all of the comments. I will look through this and see what adjustments need to be made. (I went back to work full time at Christmas and am taking my last semester of classes - 18 hours - so have been slammed in real life). Please be patient and keep posting what you come across. Thanks!

I know you didn't, I just realized I hadn't posted in response to whirligig and didn't want anyone to think it had been forgotten. I will be spending quality time on everything in May/June once I get finished with school and home from Disney World - not just this thread but all of them. :)

Hello, I am about halfway through playing this challenge. I have a question regarding: Achieving the initial aspiration for spares, and heir/esses. You can keep the spares in the household until their aspiration is complete. (3 Points) Would this be 3 points per original aspiration completed? Example: All 3 children finish their aspirations so it would be a total of 9 points? Or would every single heir and spare need to complete their aspirations to get a total of 3 points at the end of the game? Also, with TS4 are we taking into consideration points for completing children's aspirations (since those are so dang difficult?) :)

I have not used the story progression mod for Sims 4. Does it do anything more than keep the neighborhood alive? It can't provide an unfair advantage over players without the mod.

Re: The "Officially"Wacky Boolprop Challenge TS4

Post by jcampbell »

I noticed that this hasn't been updated to reflect TS4 gameplay. So I figured I would give some a lot of suggestions and information

Life Fruit
There is no life fruit in TS4
  • Potion of Youth
Can be purchased with 1500 satisfaction points in the reward store
  • Essence of Life
    Milked from the Cowplant
Homes can now have lot traits which provide different advantages such as the Gnome lot trait in which a gnome will fix all broken objects while a sim sleeps. This will conflict with the rule of only fixing objects at a certain time. A rule will need to be added in regards to these traits I would think. I can post a reply with all the traits and what they do if needed as I already have all the info written down.

Bonuses will need to be added now that there are a few different expansions and game packs. I have a few that may be considered as they are game achievements and you could print screen the notification of completion. Plus they just seem like a few fun ones to try.
  • Discover 10 aliens in disguise
  • Earn gold on 5 different social events

Toddler Play Date (toddler sp)

House Party

Dance Party

Costume Party

Birthday Party

Weenie Roast (outdoor retreat)

Black and White Bash

Dinner Party

Wedding

Spooky Party (spooky sp)

Visit 25 different lots

Complete 100 Whims

Mix 100 Drinks

Harvest 50 wild plants

Complete 5 aspirations

Bowl a perfect game of all strikes on the bowling lane

Find all hidden locations

Sylvan Glade (base game)

Forgotten Grotto (base game)

The Deep Woods (Outdoor retreat)

Planet Sixam (Get to Work)

One Bad Apple
There are no wants or fears in TS4 only whims
Siblings cannot do homework
There is no LTW. There are aspirations and you could easily complete some of them so it's possible to do more than one in a lifetime. Also you must click on the aspiration in order to use your sims satisfaction points.
Dates have goals and sim do not get whims to complete these goals. You would need to control the bad apple in order to complete the goals or all dates will be horrible and it will have a negative affect on the relationship.

Golden Trio
Influence multiple births
  • Fertile Reward trait
    3000 Satisfaction points
  • On Ley Line lot trait (City Living)
  • Fertility Massage (Spa day)
Beyond Cheesy
There is no hot chocolate or carton drink.
There is water, which they get all the time randomly, milk, and orange juice.

Boolprop Clubhouse
For those that own the Get Together pack you could make this an option of being a required club. Sims can join clubs from children and up. There could be specific things they must do in the club and a certain amount of time they have to meet such as 1xwk

Matriarch
For female babies Sims must eat strawberries

Family Scrapbook
  • No drafting table
  • Pics can be taken of children and up
  • group pics contain two sims
Collections
  • Aliens - 10
  • Crystals - 20
  • Elements - 15
  • Fish - 22
  • Fossils - 15
  • Frogs - 25
  • Gardening - 32
  • Geodes - 6
  • Insects - 21
  • Metals - 20
  • Microscope prints - 12
  • MySim Trophies - 20
  • Postcards - 14
  • Space Prints - 15
  • Space Rocks - 4
These are some of the different packs that brought new things to the game. Maybe some bonuses or challenges can be made out of some of these.

Get to Work
  • Retail stores
  • Active careers

Doctor

Detective

Scientist

Clubs
City Living
  • Apartments
  • Lot Traits
  • Festivals
Outdoor Retreat
  • Vacation
Spa Day
  • Spa venues
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
Dine Out
  • Restaurants
Vampires
Self explanatory

Parenthood
  • Character Values (can give more detail if wanted)
Something I thought was cool with this one is you can pack a sack lunch. Maybe that can be turned in to a challenge of some kind like in the Golden Trio :hmm:

Cats and Dogs
Coming in November

Okay that is all I have :heavybreathing: :swoon:

Is this going to be updated with all of the new suggestions? I'm searching out a new challenge for when my baby boom is done and I'd like to try this once the rules are updated :)

Thanks for bringing this back to my/our attention. This had completely fallen off my radar. I am actually going to put it on my calendar so I don't forget to update it this time. I will need to work on it once I finish my baby boom which is about a week from completion.
