One more week until September - I finished all of my playing last night and have over 200 pictures, so now I am planning out how to split the updates since I will be able to post the complete story during SimNaNo. I am so excited.

I plan two TCE chapters to cover it and I have just shocked myself

I waffle so much shit it is untrue

Im only 2,000 short of having it all in one chapter

I have about 7800 words and 230 pictures so far over 4 chapters. Not sure I can get 10,000 words but i am still working on the editing.

last year i submitted 2 of my things ... TCE for the 10,000 words and 102 Rainbow babies for the 200 pictures
and I achieved the words with TCE and pics with Rainbow babies - because I wasn't too sure about the rules ... I still am not sure

is it either 10,000 words or 200 pictures
or do you need to achieve both
Can i just go for the 10,000 and forget about the pictures??

I know I will do the 10,000 words with TCE ... but I won't achieve the pictures
as i do something like 15 pics per 5-8,000 word chapter.

my understanding is it is either 10,000 or 200 pictures or a combination. so 5000 words + 100 pictures. or 2500 words + 150 pictures. or 7500 words + 50 pictures. an equivalency so to speak.

If my understanding is not right, someone please speak up, because that is how I am working mine.

I believe you're right, Teresa, but some of us do singular variations of this for more of a challenge. I'm gathering my stuff for my first SimNo update but it's looking like it'll be 5,000 words and well over 100 pictures, which would easily net me gold... yet I don't want it to be THAT easy for me, so I'm going with a more extreme option.

Ooh, Ani-Mei, maybe in the future years we can talk about doing a more "extreme" SimNo for those who feel gutsy enough to try it? Julie and I could probably mop the floors there.

Right, but I think she was asking if she had to achieve both the words and the pictures in order to get the medal.

And I think maybe an extreme or double medal version if you get both words and pictures would be a great idea. I am going to have the picture count of over 200 but will be just short of the word count - but am pushing myself to get the word count also if I can. I already have 7800 words and 200 pictures in 4 updates planned out. And I am going to see if I can get it to 10,000 words (but that is like 2 more of my regular updates so not sure if I can)

Extreme Simno... I dunno about that. I haven't played once in the last week but good thing is I still have next week to get my prepping done. I made a pineapple upside down cake today and that was fun.

I don't even count my words. I go by slides. My average chapter is around 100 slides. For counting purposes, I make sure to count the slides with pictures on them. But I never count my words. However, if we did an Extreme SimNaWriMo, I'd count my words for that, too. Sounds fun!

Playing ahead is weird. I have to go back and scroll through the pictures, and think, "Who is this person again," or, "Wait, didn't that happen, already? Did I scroll back too far? Where is the picture for the thing? Did I not take a picture of the thing? I distinctly remember pausing the game, so I could take a picture of the thing!" I'm looking forward to September, so I can catch up and just play and write as I go along.

All I know is that for me, at least with pictures, my updates are easily 100 pictures each. My challenge updates and my story updates. I usually go picture crazy. For me having some more "intense" goals would be fun because it feels like if I only have to do two chapters... that's what I'd do in a normal month anyways, and the point of SimNaNo (like NaNo in general) is to aim for a challenging goal. That being said, I know there are several out there who have 10-20 picture updates who would probably not like a larger goal, that's why I thought an optional one. Nothing set in stone, of course, this is entirely your jazz, Ani! I just wondered if there was a way to make a middle ground between "this is too crazy hard to do" and "this is too easy."

Definitely something to discuss before next year

Okay, I've decided that I'm going to go with my new (started play today, not-yet-posted) challenge story for SimNo. I'm having too much fun with it to want to do something else. At any rate, I'll let you know when something's actually put up for it. lol.. but that's the story I'm going with.

because im very word heavy ... up to 8,000 words in one chapter so the 10k goal is really nothing to me
2 updates of TCE and Ill be touching 15,000 and done on day 2 (thats me hiding under a chair)

maybe we could introduce a PLATINUM medal ... one above the gold with a much higher goal ... one that will challenge wafflers like me and Liv


I actually find the 200 pics way more challenging than the 10,000

but that is just me and we are all different ... it is hard to find a middle ground to please everyone

A full length SimNo like 50 000 words or something? That would definitely be worth a Platinum medal. Even a middle ground between 10k and 50k would be 30k words and even that sounds a bit too easy if two updates is half that...well we have plenty of time to work it out between now and September 2019.
