Maintaining Motivation

Post by bookloverblue »

How do you guys stay motivated to write? Feedback helps me a lot - without it, I start to flounder. I just think "What's the point?"

I do have a history of anxiety and depression, so maybe that's a factor. I feel like my work has to be validated somehow.

Any advice?

Well I find if I read other peoples' stories for a bit I begin to miss my own and when I do go back in it's like all the ideas suddenly come back. I don't mean just one or two chapters, I binge read, you know find a legacy or challenge that is very well along and just park myself on the computer and read for hours. It really helps me get back into the writing swing of things after I do that for a few days.
